# 404 Error – Language Switcher

 * As some others on here have seen, I’m experiencing 404 errors when using the 
   Language Switcher.
 * The default language is Spanish (Mexican), and the alternate language is English.
   Viewing the default is fine, but if I try switching to English, I get 404 errors.
   The menu items do change to the English versions, though. (although I’m also 
   having issues where when I try to save the English translated menu items, they
   do not always want to save and revert back to Spanish on reload. But that’s another
   issue).
 * It does work if I specify the query parameter explicitly: site.com/?lang=en
 * I have tried everything that I can think of:
    - Updating permalink settings (making sure they’re set to pagename)
    - Checking the .htaccess file in public_html to make sure it has the WordPress
      code in it
    - Disabling all but the most necessary plugins & re-upading the permalink settings.
    - I also activated all the same plugins on another version of the site, and 
      it worked fine there, so I don’t think it would be a plugin compatibility 
      issue?
    - Deactivating & deleting WP Multilang and reinstalling it
 * The site is hosted on GoDaddy – have you had any issues with them before? The
   alternate version that I tested on, where it did work, was Hostgator….
 * Any help would be much appreciated!! In the meantime, I’ll keep trying things
   and see if I can figure anything out.

 * Try to disable all rest plugins and switch to default theme. Then enable plugins
   one by one. Maybe it is incompatible with the theme or some of plugin. Tell me
   the results.

 * Thanks for the response – I did try that, but still no luck.
 * Due to needing to get this project done as quickly as possible, I decided to 
   opt for a different translation plugin. I do prefer the features offered by WP
   Multilang, though, so if I need to offer translation for a different project 
   I will likely return to your plugin if I can.
