This may/may not be a Wordfence issue.
I’m suddenly getting a 404 when I try to access Installed Plugins page and Wordfence Scan on a 5.5.1 site under development that’s about to be launched. I can access all other pages, including Add New plugins page. Chanced upon the error when I tried to access Wordfence Scan.

    No errors on the frontend
Following a suggestion, replaced wp-admin from a fresh download – no joy
Also renamed plugins folder; no change either.
    There are no redirections
Nothing in htaccess that can cause this.

Site and plugins are all updated (as of a few days ago)
The only plugins I have are:
    akeebabackupwp
    akismet
    contact-form-7
    disable-comments
    disable-xml-rpc-pingback
    meow-gallery
    popup-maker
    rara-one-click-demo-import
    shared-counts
    ultimate-category-excluder
    wordfence
    wp-google-maps
    wp-hummingbird
    wps-hide-login

    Help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hello @gurdipsk and thanks for reaching out to us!

This sounds like a faulty WordPress permalinks code in your .htaccess file.

Open your WordPress Settings > Permalinks page and hit the Save Changes button, you don’t need to alter any of the settings, just hit the Save Changes button.

Does that fix the issue for you?

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Thanks for the suggestion. Tried it but it’s still the same.

    Anything else comes to mind?

    Thanks

Can you send a diagnostic report to wftest @ wordfence . com? You can find the link to do so at the top of the Wordfence Tools > Diagnostics page. Then click on “Send Report by Email”. Please add your forum username where indicated and respond here after you have sent it.

I’ll take a look to see if I see anything out of the ordinary.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for sending those @gurdipsk

Just curious, could you try loading your dashboard from a different browser and see if you’re still getting the 404 errors? It almost sounds like a cache issue.

I don’t notice anything on the diagnostic out of place. I can see your scan is still running as it has detected that you reinstalled all your plugins when you renamed the folder. Which is why I am thinking this might be a cache issue.

Let me know what you find!

    Thanks!

You are right! I had earlier tested on Firefox and experienced the same issue. Today both Chrome and FF are working fine. I discounted cache because I felt I had cleared it sufficiently. Thank you for your prompt assistance. I really appreciate it.
