• Hello,

For reference, my CHMOD is set at 777 for all files, and I have been able to post in the past.

When I try to edit a new post, or create a new one it gives me a 403 Permissions Error. I am never able to post long posts (more than a few paragraphs) but sometimes it will allow me to post shorter posts (3-7 words).

    Can anyone help me?

You may want to make sure that your siteurl and home values are correct:

Who are you hosted with ?

Have these problems always been around or did they just start recently ?

    WP version ?

I am using wordpress version 1.5, and I am hosted using http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/

    The website involved is http://www.valleyridgegolf.com/

These problems have existed since the initial installation of wordpress.

I have tried updating the siteurl values and there is still no change… I am unable to edit or post long articles.

    Bump

I really think this is a host parameters problem. Have you checked with your host about this?

I have not yet gotten around to it, I was waiting for a response here. Is there anything specific I should ask them?

You should give them as clear an explanation of the situation as you are able to frame. Include the type of installation (wp, the version, any plugins or themes installed, any other hacks used), the date of the installation, when the problem surfaced, how many words you have been able to post, how many words when your posts get dumped – anything you can think of which will make the situation clear to their tech support.

I myself would opt for telephone support on this one if offered. The problem there is if you cannot be online on your site and on the phone at the same time (maybe not a problem for anyone but me *sigh*).

Thing is, this is certainly not normal behavior for blog software whether wp or some other version, nor for forum software etc. Before you try other probably not effective piecemeal fixes from those of us who really don’t see your system and its complexities, it behooves you to make sure that it’s NOT some oddball setting on your host server….

And please, do keep us apprised of progress or lack thereof!

This is the reply I just recieved from a technician:

    Hi,

not sure there, would need to check with the WordPress Support team on that issue.

    Useful, eh?

I did some more testing… It seems that I only recieve the error when copying and pasting out of a word document. Any thoughts?

Oh boy. Gosh. Yeah, real helpful. Could you ask to talk to the tech supervisor?

Are you locked into your current host? There are thousands of hosts out there who don’t charge an arm and a leg and DO fully support software such as WP.

Ah…. um. Well, yeah. Word adds a lot of total dreck into docs. If you’re going to composit offline and then load up, use notepad, wordpad, or in preference notepad2 (free open source ms notepad replacement).

The thing is, I reccomended this host to my clients based on the fact that I’d never had any problems with them before, and the deals they give are amazing.

But it seems that I’ve isolated the problem (read my previos post), do you have any thoughts on that?

Odd, ok. I’ll re-type the whole article then. Thanks for your help.

Yes…. see my post just before your last one. Just don’t offline composite in Word.
