403 forbidden problems after anouncement Wordfence

    Hi there,

    after wordfence announced that falcon engine will be disabled in the next version, i got ”403 forbidden” messages on one of my pages on my site http://www.scriptium.nl

    this happened wednesday. than the thing got worse and after a while i got some download attachement instead of the homepage of my site, like ”download.gz”

    Alot of clients called me saying my site is inaccessible or they only see symbols. I have the same problem on my other site http://www.scriptiespot.nl, after the announcement of Wordfence. Both sites seem to work on Internet Explorer (although not for everyone) but not on chrome. Other people saying to me that the sites work on chrome. So it’s very confusing.

    I see that another person on this forum has got the same problem.

    i have the latest version of wordpress.

    I don’t know much about bootstrap and we may be barking up the wrong tree.

    However it has been nice speaking with you and I wish you every success with it all.

    You probably need to wait for someone with more experience to come on the scene even though it seems pretty quite in this forum.

    I just had an update come through for my theme so I have to focus on updating that now and fingers crossed it goes smoothly. I seem to spend more time fixing plugin conflicts than developing these days. I feel updates should only be once a year not nearly every day from someone lol.

    I just had a look at your 2 websites and I don’t see anything wrong with them. I used Chrome and Edge.

    Nice sites and loaded pretty quick.

    @gnomag: you did a great job trying to help, thank you.

    There is a problem but not everybody experiences this problem. I experience the problems on my laptop and server, and some clients as well. Others don’t experience these problems. I don’t know why there’s a difference.

    Server cache? I was a first time visitor so didn’t get the problem. Returning people may still be accessing cache either on their browser or through the server. Check to see if you are running cache on the server.

    Run https://gtmetrix.com/

    After entering your site name and recieving results, look at the Waterfall.

    You will see 2 errors. Are you running CDN?

    I would also remove Zopim.

    hi there;
    just a quick remark; autoptimize does not create .gz-files (well, there’s a filter you can use to force AO to do so, but I’d be _very_ surprised if Bavarois would be using that and even then the files would never be named download.gz).

    No i’m not running CDN i think, only jQuery jsDelivr on one site (is that CDN?), but the problemn occurs on both of the sites (with the same host).

    I don’t know if you ran GTMetrix but it seems you have a bit of work to do on http://www.scriptiespot.nl: for page speed.

    I use to run all the social stuff and chat stuff on my site but always had problems with speed. I have decided to live without it. Speed is one of the most important SEO factors these days.

    Yes, there is a speed problem on that site, you’re right. Maybe it’s the theme, cause both site have the same host and the faster site has even less plugins and less pages.

    But at this moment the problem in this topic is the main problem.

    Hi bavarois,
    If you are still having this issue even after deactivating Wordfence then I don’t think it’s something related to Wordfence, I can see you have installed W3 Total Cache plugin on both sites then removed it, most probably you didn’t uninstall this plugin completely, please check this guide to do so, hopefully this would help getting this issue fixed.
