Support » Installing WordPress » 403 Forbidden for external

  • Ok guys I have tried everything and read every forum I could possibly find. I dont know where the issue lies. I am using V3.3 on Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7 installed. I used the Windows Wed Installer to install Worpress, PHP and MySQL and also installed IIS 7 suggested configuration. My issue is that internaly everything works fine but externally I recieve a 403 forbidden. I have default App Pool with read/write. Machine name$ read, and IUSR read/write. Is there something in PHP that would halt this. I figure if it is good internally then external should work fine. Any suggestions?

  • I’m not an expert on Windows servers, but on every Linux server I’ve ever used, a 403 Forbidden is usually an issue with the Apache web server software and/or ownership and permissions on your web directories (things always run smoother if the web directories are owned by the same user Apache runs as).

I would hazard a guess that you’re seeing the Windows server equivalent.
