• I want to upgrade my wordpress version 2.3.2 to wp version 2.9.2 and I have no single clue what to do. I am not techy and don’t want to mess up my site

  • When you log into the admin panel do you see a message near the header telling you to upgrade? If you see that, click on ‘upgrade’.

    No! That is not a good idea if you’re using a version older than 2.7. You should deactivate all plugins, switch to the default theme, backup your database and then carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades:

    2.3 -> 2.5 -> 2.7 -> 2.9.x

    Thank you very much for the replies. I am not technical as you may think but can you please tell me how to deactivate all the plugins.
    When you say carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades, how will I do it. Where can I read more about this

    You can deactivate all plugins by going to the Plugins section of the admin panel and deactivating each one individually.

    Once that is done, download the older versions of WordPress and do a manual upgrade in the order that esmi suggested.
