sticky posts in category pages

I’m trying to get posts in my various categories to stick to the top when made sticky. I’ve ready in different places that it only seems to work on frontpages?

I have a static fronpage, and the site i’m developing uses the category structure as a CMS. What i find interesting that on one page, i made a post sticky and it moved to the top of that specific category:

http://new.soundtoys.com/info/

but on another page –

http://new.soundtoys.com/artists/

stickied article (Jerry Harrison) won’t move to the top.

both categories use their own category template, but the templates themselves are virtually identical in their calls. One works, one doesn’t… any thoughts?

If there’s no solution, could anyone recommend a plugin that will let me easily tell WP which posts to move to the top of a category listing?
