    So here I am again….. πŸ˜‰

After all the good advice and suggestions I’m back with a question on a simple to use (and install) subscribe plugin….

I tried several bit find them hard to understand and with to much things you alter in php etc.

Is there a plugin that allows readers to sign up for email notification and with a simple admin-tool behind it?

    Hope to hear from you….

  • Might be a good idea to list the plugins you tried that didn’t meet your needs and what was it you didn’t like about those plugins.

I’m also looking for something that simply gives someone an option to subscribe to blog updates via email. It seems that everything out there has a zillion and one ways to subscribe (facebook, twitter, RSS, stumbleupon, buzz, etc.) The majority of my readers have no clue what RSS is and don’t need instance updates like twitter. They just want a simple email.

I looked at Subscribe2 and even that looks a little more complicated than I’m looking for…plus that plug-in makes you have to create a separate page for it. Do people really only want those widgets that have 12 or more options??

hisgal, try Feedburner for subscribe by email. You will redirect your feed to a custom Feedburner URL, and Feedburner will give you code for a subscribe by email form you insert in a sidebar. Easy peasy Japanesy. Bonus: Feedburner has tracking stats and a reader counter.

Ihusgal2, I have the same issue. I ended up using a combination of subscribe2 and a modified CYC, so that users are subscribed when they register, and yet they never need to select categories or anything like that. As for creating a separate page for subscribe2 – I didn’t and it works fine.

Another good option (IMO) is Post Notification, in case your subscribers are not your registered users (if they are, PN’s email verification process is redundant).

I ended up using subcribe2. It has a sidebar-widget and lot (not that hard to get) of options… So far I’m pleased with it…

Thanks, Melstan. I put Feedburner on my blog and I like what I’m seeing.
