• Ok polling the community.

    I’ve had a few people request just a google map image rather than the interactive map. I personally tend to agree and think it is a nice idea. The map itself also have translation issues and really isn’t super useful in that tiny space (although you can change the size in the panel). The image would link to google anyways, so people are a click away from playing with the map.

    We could:

    1) switch to image and remove embeded google map.

    2) make it an option on the setting panel where you can pick which you would prefer

    Thoughts? I personally lean towards the first in the name of minimizing feature bloat – but if you all love the embedded map, we can work with it.

  • Option 2, although the maps embed currently doesn’t seem to be working on my install (AND: the Google Map link next to the address links to the parent folder).

    Looking forward to these features, by the way:

    * Calendar view widget
    * Reoccuring events
    * Sync with facebook events
    * Saved venues
    * Event subcategories

    I’m worried a bit about redundancy, too: in the Event List view, the date is listed twice – as a content divider and also in the start date field. I’d leave it out of the start date field.

    And it’d be nice to reduce clutter by having the option to not show the end time, and to rename “Start” to something that we’d prefer, eg: “Race begins,” “Showtime,” “Doors open,” etc.

    One last thing – entering “0” in the cost field should default to displaying “Free” rather than not displaying the cost field at all.

    Great, great plugin, guys! Congrats!

    Thanks for the feedback.

    The google map thing is a weird issue in which they require ALL the location fields (which is ridiculous). We are still trying to figure out why and if there is some way around it.

    All the features you mention are in the roadmap. Event subcats is done and will be in 1.6.

    interesting note on the terminology. For general cases you could use custom templates to handle, but that doesn’t solve the one off labeling of fields for specific events. Frankly one off is probably too big a load for such a small detail, for the time being. As you noted above, we have bigger features to fry.
