Support » Fixing WordPress » 3.7.1 Media Uploader issues

  • Hello,

I have a problem with the media uploader in that when I upload any image to WordPress the system behaves as you would expect but displays blank images (thumbnails and full size).

When you view the images the system obviously knows they exist and their size properties, but nothing is displayed bar the ‘image holder’ icon.

I’ve tried uploading both PNG and JPEG formats. Both were optimised.

This is disabling all work on the site

Thanks in advance for any help.

  • You don’t have permission to access /newbhub/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/header11.png on this server.

You need to check permissions on the uploads folder. It should be 755 and the image file should be 644.

Just checked and the uploads folder was set to 744. I’ve edited it and uploaded the images again.

    The images are all 644.

They neither show in the Library correctly or anywhere else.

Update. For some reason the entire wp-content folder was off limits (744)

I’ve set it to 755 and refreshed the cache and everything works at last.

This was a fresh install so it must have been a build error.

Thanks for your advice though. it got me looking in the right direction and sometimes that’s all we need isn’t it!
