i really like the layout of this theme. but i would like to replace some of the widgets with my own images. i emptied the widgets in the admin panel, but the still revert back to default widgets for the theme. i would like to replace them with images that contain affiliate links.

what is the best way to go about this? thanks from a wp noob.

  • what you refer to as ‘widgets’ (and they do indeed look exactly as widgets) are hardcoded placeholders in the sidebar.
in most themes, when you drag your first widget (in admin-appearance-widgets) into the sidebar, it removes the placeholders.
for affiliate link images, try to use textwidgets and place the image/link code into them.

general structure of a linked image html:
    <a href="http://affiliatelinkurl" title=""><img src="http://absolute/path/to/image/image.jpg" /></a>
