  • I got the same thing happening over here and this would be great for my site but can’t get it to work out. Please help!

I’d love to help you guys out, but you aren’t giving me any info.
Was there any other documentation on the error?
What hosting are you using? What version on PHP are you running?
What other plugins do you have installed?
Answering these questions will help me diagnose the problem and send out bug fixes. Thanks.

    This happened to me also.
“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error”

    Still running WP 2.9.1
    Arthemia Premium theme
    Running on my VPS
    PHP Version 5.2.11
Long list of plugins – http://dl.dropbox.com/u/41218/Active-Plugins-Remodel-Crazy.jpg

I think I’ve found the problem. If you already have the Mailchimp plugin installed, then it triggers a fatal error. Probably some name collision or something. If you deactivate that one, activate mine, then re-activate ‘Mailchimp’ then it seems to work. I will compare both scripts in the next day or two and release a new version that doesn’t have this problem.
Thank you so much Geek Specialties! I’m sure this will do it!

Great, I will wait a couple of days and look for the new version.
    Thanks for looking into it.

Installed the updated plugin and working perfectly.

    Thanks.

FYI – I was having some issues with my site so I deleted the plugin while I was troubleshooting. When I went to activate it I got the ‘Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error’ message again.

I de-activated the other mailchimp plugin and no change. So I tried de-activating all my plugins, then only activating mailchimp archives plugin. That worked, I then activated the rest of my plugins again and everything is working.

I’ve pushed out another update that refactors a few things to help prevent conflicts with other plugins. Should also prevent a couple of other errors that a few people are having. I’m testing this out on a couple of my own servers and everything works fine, so if you are having problems please let me know the symptoms in as much detail as possible and I’ll try to correct them asap.

    Thanks for contributing!

    Hello Mark,

We had your plugin installed with out problems for a few days, but now we got this Fatal Error business. Deactivating your plugin in solved the problem. I have tried everything to get it to work again, but every combo still gives the following error:

Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 33030144) (tried to allocate 131072 bytes) in …wp-includes/functions.php on line 1007

    Any ideas?

In the meantime, I will start troubleshooting the plugin to see if I can find what is triggering this error.

    -Baden

    Hi,

I get the same error message as Baden above (though with different amounts of bytes). It references line 1007 in functions.php as well, but oddly our functions.php only has a couple dozen lines (it just has the code for widgets in it).

I get the fatal error even if I deactivate all other plugins first, though I do get a slightly different one:
Fatal error: Out of memory (allocated 48496640) (tried to allocate 3107570 bytes) in […]/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 849

    The site is http://projectsimplify.com
    hosted at Hostgator
    PHP 5.2.4
WP 3.0 (now 3.01, same problem still)
Lots of other plugins are installed; I don’t have a list handy.

    Thanks for your help Mark!

Oh BTW, unlike Baden, we did not have this working originally. Just to clarify that. We’ve been getting various forms of fatal errors upon activation since we’ve been trying to use this plugin for the past month+. Oh, and I do have the main Mailchimp signup plugin installed, though as I mentioned, I tried activating yours first and it didn’t seem to help.

Thanks again for any help you can provide. Really looking forward to using this plugin!
