I will be blogging from my iphone and using wordpress. It functions great, but i would like to have a limit on photo size (dimensions) for uploading so I don’t have to resize every photo. Can this be done auomatically?

    Thanks

You want to limit the size of the images you upload? Or limit the size of the displayed images on your site?

    Two more questions:

what is a thumbnail? I know this might sound silly, but I know of thumbnail from photoshop, but here it seems to have another meaning.

also, will my setting max dimensions change my already uploaded photos?

    Thanks

    what is a thumbnail?

In the context of WordPress, it’s the smallest of the 3 images that are automatically created from an uploaded image file. Called a thumbnail because people often use it to link to one of the larger versions.

will my setting max dimensions change my already uploaded photos?

Not by itself but you can reset them by installing and using the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin.

If I have a thumbnail then both the image and thumbnail will upload together?

And how do I make the thumbnail open to a larger photo?

    Thanks

Online this works fine. But from my iphone the photos do not autosize. Why is this?

If I have a thumbnail then both the image and thumbnail will upload together?

No. WordPress creates the thumbnail as part of the upload process. so you only need to upload the full size image.

how do I make the thumbnail open to a larger photo

By selecting this as an option when you insert an image in a Post or Page.

Actually, I found the resize photo button in the ipod version but it doesn’t stay. I save it and it sets back off.

    Why is this?

    Thanks.

So when I click on thumbnail, the larger photo will also be available then?

I have tried everything to even size manually the photos in iphone. Why is this not working?

    Thanks again.

I have installed the “regenerate thumbnails” plugin. but I don’t see it anywhere.

As I understand it, the iPhone will show the same view as that seen using a desktop machine. It doesn’t honour any mobile CSS sheets – which is down to a decision taken by Apple. There are ways in which you can serve up a modified CSS sheet for the iPhone based on screen size. In theory, you could use such a sheet to resize the images to, say, 50% but it’s not an easy process to put one of these sheets together.
