• Hello,

im pretty new to wordpress but i got a problem which i couldnt solve yet and also the search didnt really help me alot.

I got wordpress running on my private server and i bought an URL from godaddy.com. Now I’m forwarding the URL to my server and also masking the forwarding process. Everything is good up to this point.
Now I got the problem that all my links inside my wordpress (like title links of post) dont use the URL from godaddy (e.g. http://www.test.com/hello-word/ ) but the address of my private server (http://www.private-server.org/wordpress/hello-word/) Is there any chance that i can config wordpress to automatically link the posts to test.com and NOT to private-server.org? I dont want the visitor to know where my files are located.

And also: will google crawl through the private-server.com URLS and post this result or just the test.com adress?

Im sorry but i hope i could make it clear what my problem is 🙂

    Thanks alot!

    Max

  • Make sure that your website is defined in Settings-General-Wordpress address (URL) and Settings-General-Blog address (URL).

does resetting your permalinks do anything? (set back to default, delete .htaccess, reset to custom)

when i change the Blog URL adress in the settings I get a 404 file not found error when trying to visit my blog.

Tried resetting permalinks but didnt change anything
