WP 2.9.1 not sending emails when comments are posted

    I recently upgraded to 2.9.1 from 2.7.1 and no longer get emails when comments are posted on my blog. I talked to my hosting service and they, of course, blame WordPress. I installed an SMTP plugin which does not help. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.
