I had to change the username of my host. So, my hosting account used to be accessed under the name ‘bill’, and recently i had to change it to ‘billy’. I cannot change it back.

So, for example, my ftp address is now changed.

It also means I have to change something in my wordpress database. Right now there is an error in the database so my site is down. “Error establishing a database connection”

What do I need to replace in my database in order to make my site work? And do I need to replace something in my files also?

    Thanks.

  • You need to contact your hosting provider and find out whether your database host, username or password has changed. If they have, you’ll need to update your wp-config.php file.
