• I’ve been trying to import an SQL backup from my old blog, which no longer exists in any manner except the wp backup, into my new one. As much as I’ve looked around for answers, I can’t come up with anything. When I originally imported the full backup into my new database it accepted it, but knocked my new blog out of biz. I got things going again and with some help from here I learned how to select portions of the backup because all I really care to retain are the old blog’s posts and comments. But when I import this file I’m getting SQL syntax errors. The first one follows, but I have a feeling there will be more. I’d appreciate knowing how to fix at least this error and any overall strategies to get the whole file imported. Thank You…

    CREATE TABLE wp_posts (
ID bigint(20) unsign’ at line 1

  • If you, at one time, were able to import the full backup, then might consider that while breaking up the file you’ve introduced a syntax error.

There is the option of installing WordPress on your ‘local computer’, import that whole database, delete the posts and stuff you don’t need, then use the Tools->Export to export a file, then at the new blog use Tools->Import.
