[Plugin: The Events Calendar] Event Order for sidebar list

    I’m trying to make a list of upcoming events pulling from the Events Calendar. I’ve tried using &eventDisplay=upcoming but it’s pulling the events in the order I made the post, which is not necessarily the order from the closest date to the farthest away. Is there a way to have it pull based on start date? That would make the most sense considering that the order you publish the posts shouldn’t factor into the order of upcoming events. The way it is now, if I have an event that I published yesterday and it starts in May, but then tomorrow I post an event that’s next week, using &eventDisplay=upcoming would put the May event in front of next week’s.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    UPDATE:

    On the List View page, the sidebar comes up in order, but in the grid view (and anywhere else that sidebar is called) it’s not in order.

    Can I run the same query that’s putting the list page in order and use it on the sidebar?

    Just in case you didn’t catch it, there is a sidebar widget that comes with the events calendar that lists upcoming events in chronological (event date) order. If you want to make your own, just go peek at that code – search the main plugin file for “Events_List_Widget”.

    I built a template from scratch and not using widgets, but I got it figured out. Thanks for your quick reply. Truly the best support I’ve had for anything WP related since I’ve started.

    BTW, love the plugin. Any chance of a mini-calendar for the sidebar, or is that what the widget looks like?

    Mini cal is in the build queue, but out a ways. Can you mark this thread resolved?
