• I just switched to this theme and like it so far – very clean looking. Thanks. And of course, I will donate if I find that the theme is suitable. Site is http://www.AnythingGoesGourmet.com

    I am rather new at this, so simplicity would be wonderful.

    1. In the right narrow sidebar, there are two widgets: Meta and Archives. I would like to remove them both (but be able to add the archives back later). I’ve tried to do this in the Widget area of the dashboard, but I wasn’t able to figure it out. Ideas?

    2. Is there a template for a page and/or post with no border at all? I will need this for ecommerce pages.

    3. Is there an easy way to limit the number of posts that show up before the “older posts” notification?

  • Hello jkgourmet,

    I am happy to help you with your questions:

    Question: 1. In the right narrow sidebar, there are two widgets: Meta and Archives. I would like to remove them both (but be able to add the archives back later). I’ve tried to do this in the Widget area of the dashboard, but I wasn’t able to figure it out. Ideas?

    Solution: To add / remove widgets, you must visit the widget area of your admin. To access, look beneath Appearance in your left sidebar and click “Widgets”. On this page you will see the available widgetized areas. If you notice that the Meta and Archives widgets are not applied to any widgetized area, you will need to view the sidebar.php file and remove the code manually. Look for:

    <div id="narrow-right">
    	<ul>
    		<li class="widget">
    			<h2 class="widgettitle">Meta</h2>

    			<ul>

    Question: 2. Is there a template for a page and/or post with no border at all? I will need this for ecommerce pages.

    Solution: You can only apply a custom template to “pages” not “posts”. Custom templates are created in the theme files and applied by using the “Template” option located on the right side of the Page Editor, under the “Attributes” section. Please note: If there is no custom templates available, this option will not appear

    Question: 3. Is there an easy way to limit the number of posts that show up before the “older posts” notification?

    Solution: Sure, look beneath the “Settings” section in your admin sidebar and click “Reading” you will see: Blog pages show at most which is probably set at 10posts – adjust this to the number you prefer…

    I hope I have been able to assist,
    Warm Regards,

    Thank you for the quick and complete response! Regarding question #2, it should have read

    is there a template for a page with no sidebar. I will need this for ecommerce pages.

    This theme does not show a page with no sidebar template. I assume that they wonderful guy who does WP fixes for me can add one?

    Hello fellow WP peeps. I have a website, http://www.jbdaigle.com, that I’m using to help me find a job. The sidebar content I have on my home page is way too much to fit in a few of my other pages/tabs. When the page content ends, the sidebar content just kind of stops being in a sidebar and goes underneath the page content. see here: http://jbdaigle.com/job-requirements/

    My question is, how do you make sidebar content page-specific, so that I can put less side bar content on short pages like the one above?

    I tried using a couple of plugins to do this, but didn’t have any luck because the instructions, I think, assumed much more experience with we design than I have–this is my first site.

    If you could help me out, that would be awesome!

    Hello,

    @jbdaigle6: Please start new topics for new questions. Posting non related question on the middle of a discussion disrupts the discussions and you will get no answer.

    @jkgourmet:

    Will try to answer to your questions:

    1. The widgets shown on the sidebars only shows if you have not yet set anything on the widget area. Setting a widget on the sidebar, will automatically remove the defaults. To have the archives go back to any sidebar, there is a provided WP widget you can set anywhere you want. I recommend not to hack the code as this makes upgrading so difficult.

    2. If you mean a template with no sidebar, It will make it available in the next theme version this week. (Wait for Chameleon 2.2)

    3. Already answered.

    Answer to number 2 (Have a template for pages with no sidebar): This is available from Chameleon 2.2 released yesterday night.
