• I have been tinkering with html and css for a couple years now, and only got serious about it a few months ago. After giving myself grief, I decided to go the WP route and selected the “Elements of SEO” theme because of the simplicity. The site is Hybrid SEO

I am partially satisfied with the site except for one annoying problem. My header tag for the blog posts are getting mixed signals.

The post titles are coded for h2 because the blog title is an h1 tag and I only want one h1 tag per page, so I had to change that from the original theme code. But the permanent link given to the blog posts code the titles with an h1 tag and it looks terrible.

Anyways, any thoughts on layout, color scheme, or how to fix this annoying h-tag problem. I have searched an checked every file in the WP files and the them files. I can’t find it. Maybe the rewrite.php? Oh yeah, I know less than nothing about php by the way.

  • Simple, the theme has a “single.php” which is basically the same as the front page template, but it is used for generating the permanent link pages.

You just need to make the same changes to the the single.php as you did to the index.php

The site is quite cool but the header is far too big where there is large amount of white space. I would suggest to remove it.

Warll, I wish you were correct in your answer. There is no single.php besides I have covered every file in the theme as well as in the WP core files. Thanks though.

trixoo, thanks for the insight. I had thought about that before I installed the theme. I have been considering restructuring the entire header section to integrate a site logo on left, nav on right and maybe banner or graphic in the middle. Very traditional possibly.

I downloaded the theme and took a look at it. Editing the h1 tag in the home.php file did the trick for me.

The h1 tag bug is still there, but I got the css worked out so it looks better. I think I will be moving to a new theme in the near future.
