500 error

    Hi. I uploaded wordpress but when going to the installation page /wp-admin/install.php to finish off the installation I get:

    500 – Internal server error.
    There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

    I have checked the file is in that directory, so anyone have any idea what’s gone wrong?

    You need to contact your webhost. Chances are you dont have the sufficient privellages. Can you CHMODD the contents to 777?

    seems like a php problem, but you probably can’t do anything but contacting your webhost.

    I have hosting with bglobaluk; I emailed them and they said I may have something mismatched in the config file like a database name or database username but I did it all one step at a time so it should be ok.

    The control panel is plesk which I’m not familiar with so I’ve emailed them for a fast pointer to getting these details in the database.

    I don’t want to change CHMODs yet as the installation instructions didn’t say to do it so by my reckoning it should be working without needing to do it?
