• I have just migrated all my articles from my joomla site, to wordpress. Currently I am building the site on a /new folder but will soon change it back to the root directory.

When I do this, all inbound links etc and traffic I current get on the Joomla site, will be broken.

What is the best way to deal with this? Maybe create a custom 404 message saying there is a new site and then redirect them to the homepage?

Or, do I use some 301 redirect or something like that?
    Any advice appreciated
    Thanks

  • Yes, I have the same issue too: what is the best practise to migrate and preserve the current ranking? 301 redirect in each of the older pages will be ok? Any better ideas?
