Plugins are only shown in the Dashboard if they activate Dashboard widgets. But they should also always be shown as menu items in the Dashboard menu if activated.
Nope, they don’t show at all. And if I do try to install them again, I get an error. At this time, I cannot install ANY plugins.
I’m using 2.8.6…anyone know the answer?
Did you check the server log for errors? Maybe the plugin folder has the wrong permissions: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions#Permission_Scheme_for_WordPress

I think this is a plugin who is messing this up. I had this once. Rename the plugins folder, and create a new one and add the plugins one by one again.
Well…upgrading to 2.9 has cleared up the issue. ??? Color me confused. But whatever, it’s working again. 🙂
