• Hi,

My blog has a number of writers who work from their own homes and offices. Most of these writers have “Contributor” status, as we like their finished posts to be marked “pending” so we, as the editors, can then determine when these posts go live.

However, one shortcoming of the Contributor user role is the inability to upload images. I don’t want to upgrade these folks to “Author” because they will then have the ability to publish posts instantly. Is there any way I can hack/modify WordPress to include the “upload_files” ability in the “Contributor” role?

    Thank you.

    -ben

  • Using Role Manager Plugin will let you assign the upload capability to the Contributor role.

I tried to find this plugin through WP so I could upload it directly to my site.
It is not coming up in the list of plug ins when I type role manager?

I dont want to go through their site, I prefer to automatically upload it through wordpress.
I uploaded Capability Manager plug in but my host has php4 and it needs 5.

Can you send me a link please, so I can upload it through WP,
    Thanks

I don’t remember if I got it through WP or not. If I did, looks like the author may have removed it from the WP repository.

I have not used it, but I have seen a lot of positive comments about Role Scoper. If you try it, please reply to this post and let me know the results.
