• Hi,
I am using the default WordPress template. On the right side, I have the ABOUT page link and I also created a CONTACT page link. I do not see any Home page link at all. If a visitor goes off the main page or home page, then they have no idea where to click to go back to the home page. Can someone please show me how to make a HOME link or button on all pages so when people click on it, it will take them to the HOME page (or the main page). I am totally confuse. Thanks in advance!

The idea is that you can click on the ‘blog name’ value in the default theme header file and be taken back to your home page.

If you still want a something more obvious, see if this will work for you.

From ‘Appearance; Widgets’ drag a ‘Text’ widget to your side bar just above the ‘Pages’ Widget.

Leave the Text box title blank but put something like the following in the text box value:

    Return Home

or if you want the text bold:

Return Home

You can create a button, embed the button into the text box and add the link to it if you’d like something fancier.

I’m sure there are other better solutions, but since you are using the default theme, this one is pretty quick.

    Good luck.

Thank you Dene. You mentioned that another idea is that you can click on the ‘blog name’ value in the default theme header file and be taken back to your home page. How do I make a link for the header to return to the home page?
The page that I have created is what I want for my hompage BUT in no where in the setting, it shows that it’s a homepage. It only shows the ABOUT page and CONTACT page. How do I name this page that I have already created a HOMEPAGE??? I went to setting/ reading/…. select the drop down list of pages, It only displays, ABOUT and CONTACT. Thanks again!

I suspect that the ‘page’ you want for Home may actually be a Post, not a Page.

Be sure you create a Page for Home, title it ‘Home’, and it should appear in the right ‘Pages’ sidebar in the default theme. You can set the ‘Order’ for all your pages to arrange them in the sidebar.

Thanks vtxyzzy. I think perhaps you are right. But is there a way to rename that post page to homepage? The problem is I can not even find out what is the name of that fist page that I worked on. It does not even existed in the setting/ reading…. But it is there every time I go to my URL blog. Thanks again!

Since it is probably a post, go to Posts->Edit on the Admin panel and see if it shows up.

I don’t know a way to magically turn it into a page (maybe messing with the database?), but you could copy and paste the contents into a page.
