  • Did you change theme or move your site? Is your current theme widget-capable? Have you added any widgets via Admin/Appearance/Widgets?

    Hi ESMI,

    I did not change host.

I did move the theme. I had “WP FrameWork”, moved to “P2”, then “Thematic”, and then came back to “WP FrameWork”.

I know how to clean my database options, by the way.

I have the Search, Google Search, Meta, Pages, Recent Comments Gravatar and Tag Cloud widgets.

    Soon,

    Chris Masse

You may need to re-add your Text & Category widgets.

    ESMI,

They don’t appear in the “widgets” sub-section under “appearance”. I can’t see them anywhere.

    Soon,

    Chris

Do you still have Thematic and P2 installed? If so, can you try switching back to each of those and then checking to see if your missing widgets have re-appeared?

    Thread Starter Chris F. Masse

    (@chrisfmasse)

    Yes.

    I did.

No, the TEXT ad CATEGORIES widgets did not re-appear.

    Thanks for your help, anyway.

Do you think it could be due to another plugin messing things in the widgets area?

It’s possible. Temporarily deactivating all plugins would confirm it. It might also be worth switching to the default theme to see if this is a theme-related problem.

I will see all that a bit later.

[I was also thinking about cleaning up totally the WP database options…]

    Soon,

I switched to the Default theme.

    No TEXT and CATEGORIES widgets.

Have you tried clearing out your theme options in the wp_options table?

    Thread Starter Chris F. Masse

    (@chrisfmasse)

    ESMI,

    Here is the solution.

I have de-enabled all the plugins but one.

I have activated the default WP theme.

Thanks to one plugin (WP-DB-Manager), I emptied the wp-options line in the database table. Then, I went in the settings, and set my preferences.

Under the appearance/widgets, the TEXT and CATEGORIES widgets are here. 😀

Now, I will re-install one by one all my plugins, and put up my WP FrameWork theme. I will see if all goes OK.

    Will keep you updated,

    Chris Masse

P.S.: I think that WordPress code should have a way so that such a problem does not pop up.

I have put back the WP FrameWork theme, and my widgets are still here. 😀

Should I report this bug to the Trac site?
