Extra character on blogger import

I have a development instance of WP running on my laptop. When I did an import from a blogger account, all of the posts and comments came over, but the title and the body both being with an extra ‘>’ that is not present in the blog from which I imported.

I haven’t had a chance to dig into the import code yet. Is this a known issue?
