The pages start to load, then go white with a DONE notice!
So I haven no blog, and no dashboard at all.
The files are still there on the server,
I can see them with FTP!
But I can’t access them! I renamed my blog files and started
over with a new “blog”. I did the “famous five minute install”, which took two hours to install 805 fileS.
I though I couild then RESTORE my backupp file,
    which is on the server.
But all I get is an error notice say I cannot access the directory without and index.htm file! Still no blog as all!

Ten hours a day for two years GONE!

    WHAT CAN I DO?

    Any help GREATLY appreciated!

  • I’m guessing you’re talking about:
    http://net-prophet.net/blog/

Although I can’t see any sign that you’ve not uploaded the WordPress files, ie:
    http://net-prophet.net/blog/wp-admin/

Perhaps I’ve got the wrong site though…?

    You got it!
    http://net-prophet.net/blog/ is my blog!
I can’t see ANY files there, just a “no index.htm” notice

    WHAT CAN I DO?

Have you got a backup of your wp-content folder?

I have a backup I made just before I upgraded to 2.8.5 [and
older ones too]. But what can I do with it? I can’t get
to my dashboard to restore the files! I can only see the
    backup by FTP.

    THANKS for replying!

One option you might want to explore is to contact your web host to see if they can restore it all from one of their backups.

Otherwise, the only other thing I can suggest is to download a fresh copy of WordPress:
    http://wordpress.org/download/

    Unzip it onto your computer.

Edit the wp-config-sample.php file. Fill in all your database details – username and password etc. Copy and paste the output of the following link into the appropriate place too:
    http://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/

Rename this file to “wp-config.php” and save it in the same directory as the original wp-config-sample.php file.

Using your FTP client (set it to Auto mode), upload everything except for the wp-content folder into the ‘blog’ folder on your webspace.

Restore the wp-content folder from your backup, by FTPing it back.

THANKS for replying. I really appreciate it!

I’ll check with my web host.

I tried downloading WP again, but didn’t
follow the rest of your instructions.
    That’s what’s there now.

Maybe my web host can restore it for me!

    THANKS for the suggestions!
