A second blog located in site subdirectory

I am running one blog from http://www.bfmcmillen.com index.php is in the root. WP files are all in a subdirectory. I would like to create a completely separate second blog. New look, new content, unrelated. It will still be mine. I don’t mind running two separate copies of wordpress. I am not an easy coder.

Can I do this by merely installing a second copy of WordPress in a sub directory and running it totally from the subdirectory?

Can it be run as well from the root? Coding <not so good>
