Hi all!! Im new to word press and so far I love it! Im using it as a quote and poem forum…

So far I have just started and would like to change its appearance. Im cluless how to do this. I usually use a header.php and a footer.php

I do see a header, but not sure where to change it at all. Where to remove that BIG BLUE thing up front…

    Thanks for your time!

    Holly

Welcome in the world of CSS. 🙂

I dont know about CSS. But welcome to Kubrick coding.

Right now I’m using the penultimate version of WP. A graphic is spilling over beneath the right-side link panel. In an earlier experience, a graphic was squeezed horizontally to fit the hard-defined frame or level.

Both effects are…interesting; but neither is very effective. Can helpful WP folks save me trouble by telling me the optimal width for an embedded graphic? Wait! Depends on the template, I suppose.

No I don’t remember which theme I’m using. My fault, of course. But I don’t recall the documentation for the theme having defined either the issue of whether graphics would be resized (or how) or the optimal width of frames/levels. I think that info would be helpful. Yes, I know I can load the template into my web-authoring software of choice and check the parameters.

Thing is, though, while I could load the template and check the parameters, and could even modify the template, that’s not why I use WordPress. I use WordPress because I want to focus on content while leaving the programming to others. I think that for beginners to figure-out this stuff would be difficult or even impossible, while for pros to provide the crucial documentation would be easy.

Point? Nerds, please! Take a deep breath, roll your eyes, but provide training wheels in your documentation. 🙂

admin > Presentation and read which is your active theme. I hope you can read, since you are content-focused 🙂

whether graphics would be resized (or how)
Nothing can resize the graphics for you. YOU should do it in an image editor, before uploading.
Take a good look at your content area and don’t post images that obviously are wider.

    to provide the crucial documentation
    Here is the “crucial” documentation:
Do not post pictures that are wider than your content area. Period.
