[Plugin: NextGEN Gallery] NextGen Gallery not showing any effects

Since upgrading to version 2.8.4 of wordpress I cannot get NextGen Gallery to use the Shutter effect or any other effect for that matter.

I am using NextGen Gallery version 1.3.5 and have Shutter Reloaded version 2.4. I have a single link to a “Photos” album which contains two albums and a number of galleries. My theme is Mandigo 1.41 (it appropriately calls wp-footer() as I have read is required in similar threads).

The problem only appears for viewing the album/gallery photos – I have some random photos on the front page using the NextGen Sidebar widget and it is working fine. The Photos album page is password protected so I can’t put a link here.

Though I have seen some similar threads, nothing I have searched so far has helped with this problem. Any ideas?

im not sure if we are talking about the same thing but when I click the pictures of my galleries around my website it shows up in a new page with just the picture and doesnt load in the white box it use to..

Not quite – it does load in a white box (with Next and Back buttons) but it should be showing the Shutter effect (dark background, image floating in front). look at the Shutter Reloaded plugin for an example.

Ahhh I see, I dont know what happened to mine the white box with next and back buttons completely dissapeared, gone. its opening the pictures in a new tab when u click them.. so weird and i cant find a fix.

@tokonik It seems like the image browser isn’t being called any more for you – look at the NextGen site http://nextgen.boelinger.com/image-browser/ for example. Wish I could help you but as you can see i’m not faring much better.

thanks for the input, I fixed the issue by resetting the NGG options but now I cant change it back to having the white box with the back and next button, im stuck only with the shutter effect.

That did it for me too, thanks. Have you tried deactivating the shutter plugin – or calling the imagebrowser in your post?

Me to. No effects besides shutter effect. And how the heck do you install new effects?

You can install new effects by downloading them, this is in reference to lightbox and highslide. source; http://alexrabe.boelinger.com/wordpress-plugins/nextgen-gallery/faq/ check out #3.

To get the thickbox working again i literally uninstalled the plugin then deactivated, deleted and reinstalled and it worked.

Now im stuck with the problem of centering the thumbnails :/

I couldn’t get effects working either – even tried deleting and reinstalling the plug-in, no dice. If you go to “effects” and choose “thickbox” it will at least bring that one back (at least it did for me.)

I too am having problems centreing the thumbnails, or adjusting the thumbnail image which is rendered after using the Edit Thumbnail facility. I just get ERROR UPDATING THUMBNAIL. Anyone else having this error? I have CHMODed various folders to 777 and tried a number of times but still always the same.
