I was using ‘the events calendar’ with the ‘sync Facebook events’ plugin. the events calendar tells me that i have over 30,000 events. (the events are showing up with the incorrect start times as well) i tried using the merge duplicates, but the page froze. i deactivated both plugins, than ftp’ed in, and deleted the plugins, hoping to start over. i reinstalled only the events calendar (3.4.1), but all 30,000 events are still there. i just want to start from scratch, and will manually put in my events, not using the sync Facebook events plugin. how do i purge all those events???

also, when i create a new event within the events calendar, i can add a title, but not any text! PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks you so much!

  • I’m not sure I know which plugin you are referring to by “sync Facebook events” – do you mean the official Facebook Events plugin by Modern Tribe? If so, please post on the appropriate forum 🙂

how do i purge all those events???

You can use the trash bulk action as you would for posts, except that may laborious with so many events – in which case an automated script (or working directly on the database) is probably the best course of action, unless you can set up a fresh WP installation with a fresh database – but that may or may not be viable for you.

I’m afraid that isn’t something we can help you with here, however.

Hi Barry, thanks so much for getting back to me.
This is the sync fb events plugin I was using.
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/sync-facebook-events/
It no longer works properly. (I had it working, but the times were off for some of the events) I know that modern tribe makes a plugin, and I will look into it in the future.

The events calendar never worked correctly (I couldn’t add text, only a title – and I never got the drop down calendars to chose start/end dates.

I tried deleting within the database, but that made things worse. (I am no programer)
The site was running so slow that I ended up trashing EVERYTHING, and starting from scratch. (new database, fresh WP install, etc.

Everything is now working as it is supposed to. It will take some time to get it fully up and running, but at least it is working correctly:

Thanks again for getting back to me.

No problem, Rich – I’m sorry you got off to such a bumpy start but hopefully it is comparatively plain sailing from here on 🙂
