Hi, Ryan! On pages/posts that do not have a custom header selected, I have a placeholder box with “slider image” showing up. Is there a way to remove that, so I’m not forced to have one on every single post or page?

For example, I’d like to use featured images on blog posts instead of custom headers, so the image will show up in my RSS Feed. If I place the image as a custom header, it isn’t included in the feed.

That looks like a problem with your theme.

Do you experience this same problem if you use one of the default themes that come with WordPress?

The featured images as custom headers is a separate thing really. I intentionally did them separately, so that featured images could be set which were different from the actual featured image. Header images tend to be very wide, whereas featured images tend to be square. So using the featured image functionality didn’t necessarily work well.

A plugin could certainly be made which utilised featured images for that though.
