 * Hello,
    I was using [http://www.mywebsite.com/category/postname](http://www.mywebsite.com/category/postname)
   for 2 years now. Now, i have changed it to [http://www.mywebsite.com/year/month/postname](http://www.mywebsite.com/year/month/postname).
 * So, I want to redirect my old url to new one as some bookmarks and links are
   pointing toward my old urls.
 * Google have also indexed my content with old URL. And it has started to re-index
   it using my new URL also.
 * When I checked HTML Suggestions in my Webmaster Tool, it is showing Duplicate
   title tags, Duplicate meta descriptions, because of the two urls with same content.
 * I know I can redirect my old URL to new using 301 redirect. But, as my blog have
   more than 1000 posts it will be time consuming to redirect each and every URL.
 * Any method to mass redirect my old URLs to new ones? And how should I inform
   Google or any other search engine about the same?

 * Good. WordPress lets you do this. 😉

 * Unless you’ve done something to disable it, the built-in canonical URL feature
   of WordPress will actually do the 301 redirects for you. You don’t have to do
   anything.

 * It’s a very cool feature.
 * You can try it out easily enough, just change the permalinks and with a browser
   that has it’s cache and cookies cleared (just for testing) visit one of the old
   URLs. You should get 301’ed to the new URL.
 * As for telling Google, if you are using a sitemap plugin they’ll find out that
   way or when they crawl your site.

 * I can see that all my old URLs are redirected to new ones thanks to the built-
   in canonical URL feature.
 * I was more worried about informing Google about the same. But, I think new sitemap
   submission will solve this problem.
 * Thanks for the help

 * Google will respect your built in canonical URL 🙂

 * I did the same thing and mines aren’t redirecting. Is there someone that can
   help me. I went from 30,000 visits a month to about 1,500. It’s killing my site.
