Am I okay to do this?
Last year I took a small SEO webinar course and we changed my http://www.mywebsite.ca to mywebsite.ca. Now when I run a the Woorank Review SEO tool on my site it tells me I should use a 301 redirect as search engines might see my site as two sites.
My site is hosted on Netfirms and it looks simple enough in the .htaccess Editor they have a drop down box that states 'redirect this url' 'to this url'. My WP theme is an old one; a 1.3.1. version. I guess I'm worried that if I do this something might go wrong.

    Try adding:

    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.mywebsite\.ca$ [NC]
    RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://mywebsite.ca/$1 [R=301,L]

to your .htaccess file to redirect all traffic for the www url to the bare url.
