    Hello!

All was going well with a website template upgrade when I decided to update the permalink structure. I changed to post name and then could no longer access the website or admin backend at all.

    Error is:

    301 Moved Permanently

    The document has moved here.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I’m guessing the htaccess file is the problem. What am I looking for to correct this issue. What coding will I need to insert / change / or delete?

    Many thanks for your help!

    Lynne

Try renaming the .htaccess file to just htaccess (remove the dot), then try re-saving your permalink structure at Settings/Permalinks in your admin panel. If WordPress cannot automatically create a new .htaccess file, it will provide manual instructions after saving.

    You’re welcome!

There must have been something in the previous .htaccess file causing a conflict.

I can’t publish new post all am seeing is 301
    Moved Permanently
