Can anyone please give me easy instructions on how to move Page Builder content of a post or page into an archive widget? How do you set up an archive?

I recommend asking at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/siteorigin-panels so the plugin’s developers and support community can help you with this.

I have posted my inquiry on the Siteorigin forum but I get no response just as much as no one else gets a response judging from the amount of activity listed per post. This area is by far the best in the forums for getting your questions answered. So I repeat my question here again because it IS a How To and Troubleshooting topic and this IS a WordPress forum.
I want an archive for a certain topic(book reviews)to be displayed in the wordpress archive widget by itself and not as part of the rest of the posts topics in a general archive. Can this be done, if so, how?

Fair point. If someone familiar with SiteOrigin happens to be hanging around the general area here, I’m sure they’ll have an answer for you.

Thank you. I know that in this deep sea of users there should be someone who knows how to do this. So far for me the wordpress.org forums have been a huge help to me, thank you for all that you do.

    Hi ChuckH58,

Alex from SiteOrigin here. I can’t seem to find your thread on siteorigin.com. Is it under the same title?

By archive widget do you mean the Archives widget? If so, that’s a standard WordPress widget and sadly it doesn’t have the ability to specificity select a category. Sadly I don’t know of a plugin that will add a widget that can replace this widget with slightly more control. @james do you know of any?

If you’re okay with showing full posts (depending on if you theme support excerpts), you could use the post loop widget. Although that’s very dependent on if your theme has templates for it.

You could also use a blog widget which is included with Widgets for SiteOrigin (which is an excellent third party widgets bundle).

Let me know if this helps.

Looks like it went to https://wordpress.org/support/topic/how-do-i-use-the-archive-widget

There are a few plugins that provide an “enhanced” archive widget in a variety of different ways, but nothing I’m aware of that’s specifically like what’s being requested: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=archive+widget

Thanks guys, I’ll keep on digging. I have a thought. Could I just create a new Page and put the content that I want saved there, and have a link to it on the author post page where the current content is. But then, won’t the linked page have to have a title and therefore be included on the menu, which I would rather not want to happen.

    Hi ChuckH58,

    You could, yes.

If pages are automatically getting added to your menu it’s possible you’ve either not set up a menu or you’re set it to automatically add them. Please navigate to WP Admin > Appearance > Menus and check if you’ve created one. If this appears you haven’t created a menu. Could you please create one now so you’ll be able to prevent this.

If that doesn’t appear, I would recommend unticking the “Auto add pages” under the menu settings.

Thanks for the reply @james! 🙂

Problem solved! I simply created a new page called Past Book Reviews and made the Blog page as a Parent in the page attributes. Yes , it’s on the menu, but under Blog and not out front with the main menu which is fine. And I can still create new content as a post if I want to so it will show up in the archives as well. I hope this helps someone else too. Thanks guys.
