• I had a working facebook connection to my facebook page. I disconnected it from my site’s “Sharing” settings to connect it to my personal account instead. I tried multiple times with no success, I simply got a blank page with a long URL. Then I logged in to my WordPress.com account and was able to connect to my facebook account. I am reporting it although I have solve my problem in a roundabout way just in case something may need attention and as a workaround for others who may have the same problem.

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look at your Jetpack settings?

If you want it to remain private, you can also contact us via this contact form:

Thanks! Your site appears to be properly connected to WordPress.com at the moment. I do not notice anything wrong with your Jetpack settings, and I wasn’t able to reproduce the problem on my end, unfortunately.

If this happens again, would you mind copying the URL of that blank page, and send it to us via email?

    Thanks!

Thanks for looking into the problem. I connected it from the WordPress.com. Since you wanted to URL, I disconnected again and tried to connect from my own site. No dice! Here is the URL of the blank page:

    [private URL removed]

I will go back now to WordPress.com and connect once more.

    Thank you,

On second thought, I will not connect until you get a chance to look at the site in case there is something for you to see. I will wait until I hear from you or ready to publish a new post, whichever comes first.

Thanks! You can connect again. I believe I found the source of the problem. It appears you started using Jetpack a long time ago, back when it was only the WordPress.com Stats plugin. Since you started using Jetpack that long ago, some of your Jetpack options are missing.

We’ve addressed that issue on WordPress.com, as you figured out, but this is still a problem when trying to make a connection via Settings > Sharing in your dashboard.

If you don’t mind connecting back via WordPress.com, that shouldn’t be an issue. If you’d like to fix that issue in the dashboard as well, you’ll need to go to the Jetpack menu in your dashboard, disconnect your site from WordPress.com thanks to the link at the bottom of the page, and let me know. I will then make some changes to your Jetpack settings, and you will be able to reconnect.

I have disconnected JetPack on my site from WordPress.com. Let me know when I can connect again. I appreciate the help and am quite curious how you make the changes on my JetPack. Is it on WordPress.com or on my site you are making these changes, just curious.

Excellent. I’ve made the changes on my end. You can now reconnect. Once you’ve done so, let me know and I’ll make sure your old data (stats and subscribers) is added to the new, fresh data set you’ll be creating when you reconnect your site to WordPress.com.

    Thanks!

I make those changes on WordPress.com, where some of your site data is synchronized and saved, to allow you to use features that rely on the WordPress.com cloud. You can learn more about it here:

OK Jeremy, I connected JetPack to WordPress again. I guess this is the price of being a very long time WordPress and JetPack user! But I do appreciate your help in bringing at least some parts of my site to up to date.

You will let me know when all is done, right? Are there other issues I should be concerned with related to legacy versions of WordPress being updated over the years I wonder?

Just for information, Related Posts feature is not working. Is it because I currently do not have access to my prior data? I hope I will recover them all!

I’ve moved your data over, you should be all set now! It seems that your site data is still being indexed, so it could take a few more hours until all your posts are indexed, and Related Posts start appearing.

If you still experience issues in a few hours, could you try to install and activate this small plugin, by going to Plugins > Add New > Upload in your dashboard:
    http://i.wpne.ws/Vdoc

Once you’ve activated the plugin, try to relaunch the indexation by clicking on the “Full Sync” button at the bottom of this page:
    https://wordpress.com/settings/general/www.keptlight.com

If the Related Posts start appearing, you can deactivate and delete this small plugin.

Let me know if it helps.

Thank you Jeremy. I see that my stats are back, the related posts are still not there. I will wait until the afternoon and then follow your instructions if they do not appear. Then I will post here how it goes. Thank you for bringing my JetPack up to date.

The related posts are slowly appearing probably based on what part of the site has been indexed.

However, I have a different problem. I have several social media accounts on facebook, Google+, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Tumblr and a new post I published 10 minutes ago did not get pushed to any of them. The sharing settings show that they are all connected. Later on I will manually add the new post to those, I thought I would wait in case there is another faucet you can open and let all the waiting work be done!

You might have to cycle those connections to reset everything, and make sure it all works. Could you go to http://wordpress.com/sharing again, and reset each one of the connections?

You’ll need to delete the matching apps on each Social Network as well, to fully reset the system:
    https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applications
    https://twitter.com/settings/applications

Let me know how it goes.

    (@acekin)

Oh, bummer! I thought the last post would have been a test of the system, I will redo the connections and wait until I have something to post I guess. Maybe I will post something and quickly delete them on the social media. Let me see.
