Support » Requests and Feedback » 3.0 wont let me change allocated memory to what I want it to have

  • was using 3.0. just downgraded back to 2.92.

    I had 2.92 set to use 50 mb ram. after upgrading to 3, memory changed to 256mb. And no matter what I did I could not change it back.

    I did not want wordpress having 256mb ram allocated to it, so I downgraded back to 2.92.

    Here is how I did it.

    WordPress wouldn’t enforce a memory limit of 256mb unless you have a define set in your wp-config to that effect

    define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’);

    The default is 32MB, or 64 for multisite.

    Default-constants in wp-includes –

    if ( !defined('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT') ) {
    		if( is_multisite() ) {
    			define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '64M');
    		} else {
    			define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '32M');
    		}
    	}

    I’ve removed your downgrade link, since it basically just said to backup, replace the files, and hope it all works, alongside a lot of adverts.
