 * I’m a total html/css/weblog newbie, and am stuck with a layout question. How
can I get Google Adsense ad’s to show up after the “Archives” section on the
right side? I’ve tried inserting the code in different spots in the index.php
file, but no avail. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I’m sure I have
screwed something up in trying to modifying the page/layout. I know the page
doesn’t validate as XHTML and am also mystified by those errors, but am trying
to learn this stuff from scratch to fix them. Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

 * Hi tunis and Welcome to WP. I know you support Arsenal but are you a Brit?
    As
to your question it is difficult to see what is going wrong when you say you
have tried putting the code in different places. It obviously needs to go right
after the Archives but presumably you tried that. Can you edit the page at all.
I ask because this may be an ftp or caching issue not strictly a problem of code
positioning. Nice blog. I have linked to it.

 * I’m not a Brit, but love good soccer/football. Had a chance to see the Gunners
on TV a few times this year. Amazing season.
I have inserted the code right
after the archives in the code. Pretty sure its not a cache or ftp issue. But
I am using the template editor in WP to edit the code, could that have something
to do with it? Guess I’ll push on and do some more digging, but if anyone has
a suggestion, I’d appreciate it. Thanks Root for the compliment about my blog
and the link, I’ll do the same on my end. 🙂

 * I took a look at the HTML and compared it to mine, but nothing sticks out. The
only thing I can see as a difference is the fact that some of the lines in your
script are indented a couple of spaces. Maybe this is causing fits with google’s
   javascript? It’s worth a try…

 * Nope…I tried adding spacing on mine and it didn’t cause a problem. When did you
get approved for Google Ads? If I remember right it does take some time for ads
   to start appearing.

 * No he has got the ads. They are just not in the right place. Is the template
edit actually reaching mysql? And could it be a chmod issue?

 * Well after some more fiddling, I can move the ad block anywhere on the left side,
but can’t get it to move to the right side. Madness, I say.

 * I am sorry to say tunis that your css positioning is way out. You had us foxed
because we overlooked the obvious. If you look at your div menu it closes as
it should. It is immediately followed by a list of all things (the calendar).
It is not in any kind of div at all. In accordance with the box rendering model
your browser puts it in the best space available. You have completely lost control
of your layout. Do not worry, many of us have been down this route and then some.
   HTH.

 * I did say I was a newbie to these sort of things. 🙂
    Anyway, thanks for the
help, looks like I have some learnin’ to do to fix the layout. Thanks to all!!!
