 * well, i took the dots design, and i finally made it a true 3 column design instead
of a 2 column made to look like a 3 col one. if anyone wants my template, let
me know. although i had to make changes to the index too.

 * yea it pops up from time to time, just try refreshing it a few times and it’ll
work again. I don’t know how to get rid of errors like that…

 * Call me old fashioned but I can not get on with absolute positioning on blogs.
It does not make sense. At least to me.

 * why doesn’t absolute positioning make sense?

 * I’ve noticed that there are two behaviors with the calendar for WP when the increasing
the page using Ctrl-+/- and that is 1) it simply move into the alley or 2) it
moves under the alley and cannot be seen. In Netscape 7.1, the cal on this site
stays visable. Everything else seems to size faily well with Netscape too.

 * Well absolute positioning does not make sense _to me_ because an absolutely postioned
element is taken right out of the normal document flow – that is the point of
it. What that means to a blogger is that as the element gets longer as either
a content or menu div does, if it is absolutely positioned the parent container
will not – as I understand it, expand with it. It is therefore not possible to
position a footer. What is worse – is that if you are unaware of this behaviour–
you may fit a footer and end up with a very unsightly menu overspill – sadly
an all too common occurence. For example this is the winner of the Alex Style
Sheet Comp. [Scroll down on arrival](http://www.alexking.org/software/wordpress/styles/sample.php?wpstyle=pink_lilies&c=1#comments).

 * heh yea i understand what you mean, but i think it works with my design since
i’m using plain white, and don’t plan on having a long list of items in the columns.

 * I cannot figure out how to make a right column, seen on Alex King’s website here:

Can anyone give me some code that I could plug into Word Press’s index.php and
   if necessary, wp-layout.php? Thank you

 * You may want to check out the [Min Height Hack](http://www.greywyvern.com/code/min-height-hack.html).
I use it on my site, [Rain From Vermont](http://rain.xidus.net). It allows you
to “extend” the containing element when you have a menu (or other nested box)
that extends further than it should. It uses a cleared div, and a floated “prop”
to push the foot of the page as far as it needs to go. Check the examples out,
it’s easier to understand by seeing it.
