2.X Is Awesome!

I couldn’t have recommended BuddyPress pre 2.0, but after making proper use of post types, and implementing dynamic templating in 1.7, and far better integration with bbPress, BuddyPress is pretty awesome. I can use it for paid projects now instead of just niche interest group sites made for friends.

I think there’s improvements to be had with x-profile. It could more seamlessly integrate with the WordPress profile, like wp-members does. There could also be improvements to the default usability. Messages for example has a delete button as well as a checkbox for every row, and an empty table cell on the left for messages with just 1 new message, which is most. Commenting on an activity will trigger an email (if settings permit), but no notification is generated. I would love to have more control over what activities are in the feed as well. Perhaps I’ll make these changes myself :). It’s well worth contributing to now.
