• If you are evaluating this plugin and are considering using pro features, you should know they have removed the plugin update feature for PRO !

    Updates require you to:
    1) Login to their website
    2) Download plugin
    3) Disable plugin
    4) Delete plugin (accept prompt that all data will be deleted)
    5) Upload plugin
    6) Activate plugin

    Some might be ok with a manual update procedure, but not for our company/clients.

    We would never had paid money for a plugin without an update feature.

    Once this defect was noticed and provided to the company, (within 30 days of purchase) they refused to issue refund. EXTREMELY DISHONEST COMPANY

    It is unacceptable to remove a feature from the paid version compared to the free plugin, and not disclose it.

    Be aware if you want to move away from the free version.

    @accunet,

    Thanks for your feedback. Note that this forum is for FREE and not PRO version.

    This process is not encouraged by our company, but it is due to the fact that WordPress doesn’t allow having any type of automatic updates for the paid plugins. The automatic update is acceptable only for free plugins, which is WordPress policy. And we cannot do anything about it. As for the step 4 then deleting the plugin doesn’t erase your data, upon install the newest version all of your data added to the calendar will be still there. That’s just about the plugin files, which do not store data. The data is stored in database, which gets erased only if Uninstalling the plugin. And this is not what you do here.

    This feature unfortunately cannot be added in close future due to the mentioned objective factor. Thus we cannot provide a refund for something that is not a bug or lack of feature for now.

    All other paid plugins I use take advantage of the update feature in WordPress (the software) to do one-click updates.

    Your statement that WordPress does not allow this is untrue.

    You should have disclosed that you have no automatic update in your paid version, and I am warning anyone that is evaluating the free version – with thoughts of purchasing the paid version, that they will have to do updates manually. (something you do not disclose on this website)

    You CAN provide a refund, but you choose not to.

    @accunet,

    We have refund policy, which is clearly mentioned and this case doesn’t fall into it since it is not anyhow related to our product or company. Note that limitation of updates is actually coming from WordPress, you might have some plugins which have automatic updates, but it is true for the majority of Pro version plugins. Automatic update is limited by WordPress, only free versions of the same plugins allow it.

    You may want to ask other plugin authors who have commercial versions.

    For example: Updraft Plus has a commercial version and it updates from their own servers just fine. You get a notice of an update just as you do with WordPress plugins in the repository. The user clicks Update and the update occurs seamlessly and works.

    After reading this, I am glad I didn’t purchase. I have to agree with accunet. If I would have found out auto updates were not in the paid version, I would have been outraged. And no refund for a major flaw… That’s crazy. However my main reason were the associated prices for managing calendars. It’s just too costly for what it is. I’m out.

    @accunet,

    Our refund policy just doesn’t include this case for the refund. The update notice is still visible to the clients, so they do get noticed when an update is available with its changelog allowing to choose whether to update it or not.

    In future we might include the server-connecting updates, but at the moment it is not yet possible.

    @solsiticeman,

    I have replied to your review. Seems you got confused about the pricing options. Please check out the mentioned pricing options. Thank you.

    @sona: I hope you don’t get fired, since clearly you are either lying, or you are outright clueless.

    Either way, let someone else handle support, or least do your homework before typing anything. You guys make excellent products, and it’s a shame to have the company’s reputation go down the drain this way.

    P.S. Your premium version of Slider WD is perfect!

    I don’t understand why @sona says that premium plugins cannot do automatic updates. Here are a few plugins that I use and always do automatic updates (maybe you can ask their developers how they did it):

    Advanced Custom Fields PRO, BackupBuddy, Envira Gallery, Soliloquy, and SuperSide Me.
