I’m new to Yoast SEO so please excuse me if this is a dumb question. I’m following a Yoast SEO tutorial on YouTube and it says to have the XML sitemap added to your file manager using cPanel/FTP. Does Yoast automatically generate and add this for you now? The video I’m watching is a little dated but I read elsewhere that uploading this manually isn’t needed any longer so I’m a little conflicted on what exactly to do.

I also read that I could use the Google XML Sitemap Plugin to do this but when I install and activate that plugin, I get an error message from Yoast saying that it conflicts with them.

Thanks in advance for the help!

As you suspected, the tutorial you found is outdated. Currently, the sitemaps are generated on the fly which means you do not need to create a physical file through cPanel/FTP.

Just getting stated with our plugin? Check out our free video tutorials here.
