We were having trouble communicating with wordpress.org from our site (maureenmonte.net). There was also an concern if jetpack might have been connected to the dev site by mistake (The site owner would be sent to maureenmonte.eric.montedev.com when she clicked on the edit icon from wordpress.org, but our team always got sent to the live site). We follow a standard dev/staging/production workflow, so first I disabled jetpack on both the dev and staging websites, that seemed like it may have helped, but still nothing was updating.

On the advice of some posts we disconnected jetpack and tried to reconnect. Then it became obvious why things weren’t syncing properly. We were unable to reconnect. After getting the host to setup the mod_sec whitelist rule we reconnected fine, but now all the stats, and more importantly, followers are gone. Eek! Now, the primary domain never changed, but there were also two dev sites that may have polluted the situation (maureenmonte.eric.montedev.com and maureenmonte.montedev.com).

    Also potentially helpful:

Before the disconnect/reconnect attempt when I would click on the “Show me” button for enhanced stats it would take me to https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/maureenmonte.com but now it takes me to https://wordpress.com/stats/insights/115237111, even though it looks like the maureenmonte.com version, and in fact has Maureen Monte (maureenmonte.net) as the site and if you click on any other nav link (switching form insights to days, or going to settings) changes everything back to https://wordpress.com/stats/day/maureenmonte.com etc.

I’m hoping IDs just got screwed up somewhere and the old info can just be merged into this new ID and we’re all good. Thanks for your help!

I merged the stats/subscribers from the dev site to the production site.

At first look, the stats didn’t seem to be associated with the dev site ID, but can you check on your end to verify?

Also, you mention maureenmonte.net . Was that a typo and you meant .com? Trying to confirm all of the variations that I could hunt down 🙂

    Cheers!

Yes, sorry that was a typo. I work for Monte Consulting which is monte.net This is the owner’s sister’s website maureenmonte.com. I just get so in the habit of typing monte.net it’s become ingrained. You’re right the stats don’t seem to have made it, but the subscribers did, which is the main issue. The stats may be a wash anyway, if they were for the dev site and basically I’m the only one on there those stats wouldn’t have been useful anyway. I don’t think Maureen will care about the stats missing, the subscribers were the big issue and that’s all set. Thanks so much!
