  • I have the same problem. It seems that we need to create an API key on the General Settings tab. I tried a couple but it does not seem to be valid(browser API)

You can create API’s on google on the following page
    https://console.developers.google.com/apis

I just saw this on the OTHER NOTES section of this plugin page

    Creating an API Key
At the top of the General Settings administration screen is an option to specify an API key. This is optional but many of the features of this plugin – including accurate video information being added to the metadata – will not be available without it. Thankfully an API key is easy to get and is free.

First, head to the YouTube Developers Console and create a project. Click on this project and head to “Credentials” in the side menu. Click on “Create credentials” and from the drop-down select API Key. You will be prompted for the type of key so select “Server key”. Name it and then press Create. The API key will be shown.

I just found out that the update renamed my List name, which is what use to display many videos.

I was getting the same message as you.
Try going to the Embed > List and checking if you have a list named Tatoo

That will hopefully solve your problem

Thank you very much for your replies, unfortunately I have tried the API path and all links are still showing the same, I have renamed the List back to Tattoo with no effect, although as with the short code in the posts the list of videos I have in there all show Invalid video ID although all ID’s are valid.

Sort of at a loss as to what to try now. Not looking forward to the prospect of going through every post and changing how the videos are added 🙁

Did you have any better luck then me?

My videos are working again http://www.rockandsoulmachine.co.uk

Send me a private message though this site contact(it goes to my band’s email). If it’s ok with you, I could log into to your site wp-admin and see if I can spot anything like how I done on my site.

But those were the two main things I saw, the API Key (it needs to e a Server type). And it took about 10 mins for the embed plugin to recognise the API key was valid. I also, left no restriction of IP to access it.

The other was renaming the List name.

I’ll try to add your video ID on a ‘fake’ page on my site, to see what happens, I’ll post the link here shortly

The link seems to be fine…

Hi everyone. My deepest apologies for these issues. I’m now away for a couple of weeks, unable to look at this (I thought releasing it 5 days beforehand would be enough time to highlight any major issues – yeah, I was wrong).

However, I did have a similar problem myself after setting up an API key but found it cleared the next day – I don’t know if it takes a while to start working. None-the-less a key is not required – if you’re getting errors without one there may be a rogue API key configured so simply clearing the field in the settings and re-saving it may cure it.

If all else fails, I’d recommend installing the previous version… https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/youtube-embed.4.3.5.zip

Again, apologies for this and I’ll get straight to fixing it upon my return to civilisation.

I’ve just pushed out version 5.0.1 which should resolve these issues.
