terrible issue and cannot login even with forceOff

    only via FTP once i underscored plugin folder could I access site. then once inside i tried reactivating etc and now i am still inside but have everywhere these notices on top and a big notice saying shield is NOT active, when it is..:

    so i tried logging out and this is what I get:

    unfortunately something happened – but i was not even in the site in past week. must disable you plugin and install wordfence unfortunately. really love yours and hope this gets fixed up

    It looks like somewhere your plugin options haven’t built correctly.

    Please see this FAQ:

    In this FAQ where it refers to “reset”, replace with “rebuild”. This will force the plugin to rebuild all its options again. If that fails, you can try with “reset” also, but it’ll mean you’ll need to setup the plugin again like a fresh installation.

    Once you create the rebuild file, refresh a couple of times to ensure the new options have built correctly.

    I’ll put a guard in where those errors are happening to ensure you don’t get spurious errors happening.

    Hi Paul, strange it happened as not on other 2 sites i checked [haven’t checked all others]. Is this due to auto updates and is it a bad idea to auto-update then?

    For this particular site, all was well until yesterday. luck it is not a live site yet. and I have maintenance mode plugin active there.

    Before you answered – I deactivated plugin via FTP, added the forceOff and made sure to resave my [the7 v3] theme’s settings, activated and saved settings of Visual Composer Ultimate Addons, cleared all caches with wp-rocket, incl. CF and resave rocket settings [while your plugin was deactive i connected to CF, activates and setup wp-rocket] then reactivated yours and underscored the forceOff file. All worked again. bizarre.

    last thing i recall doing last time i was in the site was to activate the HTTP headers. all seemed in perfect working state. i activated this on all other sites as well. looking at error list i pasted above i see lots to do with header. would this be perhaps the culprit?

    There isn’t anything wrong in-principle with automatic updates, the problem seems to be that your plugin on these sites hasn’t picked up and rebuilt the plugin configuration after the upgrade.

    Did you try the rebuild/reset I suggested? This had no effect?

    Also, it isn’t related to the HTTP headers option.

    The latest update today will help prevent the spurious messages you’re seeing, but wont solve the underlying problem. By upgrading the plugin, it’ll hopefully rebuild your options anyway and the problem will be solved.
