Plugins Do Not Get Updated

When I try to update plugins, whether multiple plugins or one at a time, it first appears that the plugin gets updated, but in the end only for me to find out that the plugin was not updated after all. My website is hosted by InMotionHosting.com, so I am not sure if this has to do with the webhost.
