    Hello @awr10e

    Would you please enable debug mode and check if any error is shown in that page?

    To enable debug mode please edit a line in your wp-config.php:
    Change

    define('WP_DEBUG', false);

    to

    define('WP_DEBUG', true);
    define('WP_DEBUG_DISPLAY', false);
    define('WP_DEBUG_LOG', true);

    Now try to save again. If any error generates, there will be a file created called debug.log in wp-content folder. Open that file in any text editor and check what is the latest errors. Let us know how it goes.

    Have a good day!

    Cheers
    Ash

    I have the same problem, but I’m not sure how to do what you are asking.

    Hello Fytrap

    You have to use cpanel file manager or ftp to edit that file. You need to go to public_html directory of your domain and there you will see the file wp-config.php.

    If you cpanel file manager, then edit that file, make the changes above and save.

    If you use ftp, download the file in your local pc, open the file, make the changes above, save the file and then upload the file using ftp.

    Have a good day!

    Cheers

    Thanks. Not used to this yet. Here is what the debug.log says:

    Is that helpful> It’s all Greek to me.

    OK, I got a bunch of stuff in the Debug log; anything I should be looking for?
    This is the latest entry, right after trying to enable page cache:

    Hello Fytrap

    Looks like you have one or more old plugin or theme? Would you please run a plugin conflict test? Please deactivate all plugins except W3TC and check if you still face the problem. If not, then enable one by one and check which one is causing the problem. You can see the flowchart here: http://premium.wpmudev.org/manuals/using-wpmu-dev/getting-support/

    Please let me know what you get.

    Cheers
    Ash

    I really appreciate the assistance; this is basically what I do for a living.

    I deactivated everything, still will not enable. Here is the latest from the debug.log after I tried it again:

    [10-Aug-2016 01:20:26 UTC] PHP Notice: add_object_page is deprecated since version 4.5! Use add_menu_page() instead. in /home/holein5/public_html/wp-includes/functions.php on line 3658

    Update: If I set the Page Cache Method to Basic, it will save. This is not what the instructions say to do; is this valid?

    (@bappidgreat)

    Hello Fytrap

    Well, I am not quite sure about that, sorry. But the settings varies in different servers based on server configuration. If it works for you with basic method, then it should be fine I think 🙂

    Have a good day!

    Cheers

    Under your WordPress’ Settings > Permalinks (Common Settings) … what is it set to? If its set to “Plain” can you change that to “Post Name” or anything else other than “Plain”. Now go try to set “Disk Enhanced”. Did that help?

    If not then…

    I wonder if its having problems writing to your htaccess.

    Are other settings on w3tc’s admin page able to be set and saved correctly (e.g. Browser cache settings can be enabled and settings adjusted)? Or do they also revert back to their defaults when refreshed?

    When u say it is “unchecked” (after refreshing) is “page cache” simply unchecked or is it disabled from being checked on again?

    If you’ve enabled Browser cache can you check your htaccess file for the existence of a section labelled: W3TC Browser Cache

    Curious…under Dashboard > Compatibility Check .. can you paste the results?

    Using “basic” is fine but it’s just not as efficient and definitely slower. The only reason one would use it would be if it was one’s only choice. However, one plus with “basic” is that page fragment caching will work more consistently, if you ever decide to implement and use it (which most people don’t because they don’t realize this plugin has that feature too) 😉 .

    Thanks Kimberly! That worked great. That kicked my GTMetrix score up to 88%!
