• Hi all,

I am creating a website using wordpress and it seems my site is non existent to the browsers. I have dowloaded the yoast SEO plugin and provided all the information. When on google and I type in site:www.aplaceforwords.ink, Google doesn’t find anything, nor the title, nor the meta description when everything is there.

    Anybody has a clue?
I already went through google webmaster tool. Also, I’m actually moving from aplaceforwords.weebly.com to www.aplaceforwords.ink, is there something I have to do so that goole knows that I’m not duplicating content and that one the .ink site will be finished, i will delete the other site?

    Please let me know!

    cheers!

Well, there’s really nothing for Google to index at aplaceforwords.ink

Google’s algorithm is very complex and smart, it tries not to index “coming soon” and “under construction” pages.

Once the site has real public content on it, Google will index it in a few weeks. You can speed up the process by adding the XML sitemap (provided by Yoast SEO) to Google’s Webmaster Tools: https://www.google.com/webmasters/ (but don’t waste that now, wait until the site has real public content).

    Hello James,

    Thanks for your response.
Correct, as of right now, I have a coming soon page, that’s what is visible to the public but of course in the back I am creating stuff!

I believe it already happened to find a site on google and find out that it’s only a “coming soon” page and not yet available to the public. I heard it’s also good for SEO to start with a coming soon page. I find it funny that Google choses not to bother when there is a coming soon page. How does little folks do to create leads when they are just beginning and added a coming soon page? Maybe it would help more if I actually created a proper landing page and with a coming soon module instead of just saying coming soon?

Anyway, I will write back in the same conversation once everything is public, hopefully in a few days!!

    Thanks

Your site is returning a 503 code “Service unavailable”. This is pretty standard for maintenance mode plugins, since if you’re under construction your site is unavailable. It does mean though that Google will ignore you.

Consider building a proper landing page with some info on what you do, proper title tags and don’t return a 503 (so don’t use a maintenance plugin).

I suppose it’s more a matter of personal perspective. My question would be, why would anyone create a lead to just a coming soon page? 😉

Personally, this would be much better. Currently, all anyone visiting your site knows is that *something* is coming soon. There’s really nothing for anyone to create a lead from that. Tell us what it is, when it will be there, and most importantly, why we should all be interested in it. Basically, write a full introductory post and pop that up on the Coming Soon page. 🙂

I went through all the tools and through google webmaster tools and I can make it go higher in google search rankings, inclusion when i search: “a place for words hugo bertrand” I find that weird, do you have any tips?

    Cheers,

It will take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for Google to fully index your site. They have the entire internet to worry about, so they can’t work in real-time.

You can follow the progress through the Index Stats in Webmaster Tools.
